Technical Solution for Real-Time AV Signal Interconnection Between Conference Hall and Studio on different floors
Signal Transmission Requirements Conference Hall to Studio Control Room: All HD video signals from conference hall cameras are upconverted to 4K for transmission to the studio control room. Signals are routed to: Hardware production switcher LED wall controller (HDMI interface only). Audio mixer (via dedicated audio routing).
Studio to Conference Hall Control Room: All 4K video signals from studio cameras are downconverted to HD for transmission to the conference hall control room. Signals are routed to: Hardware production switcher LED wall controller (HDMI interface only). Audio mixer (via dedicated audio routing)
On-site challenge
•Different floors, requiring real-time performance, solving the problem of long-distance AV transmission.
•The production switcher and LED screen receive signals simultaneously, solving interface compatibility and signal distribution challenges.
• To unify formats when mixing and switching between HD and 4K production/display systems
Design Philosophy
Given the requirements for long-distance transmission and real-time performance, fiber optics is the most suitable solution. Additionally, format conversion and interface adaptation must be addressed. Therefore, this solution adopts a core architecture based on baseband optical transmission combined with frequency conversion and interface transformation technologies.
System Signal Flow Topology
There are two Studio Edge 5CH units installed in the conference broadcast room and the broadcast control room, respectively.
Signal Processing & Production:
1. Conference Room to Studio Room •Conference Room Setup: HD cameras (SDI) and audio inputs are upscaled to 4K via Studio Edge and transmitted via fiber to the broadcast control room. •Broadcast Control Room: Studio Edge receives the optical signal, outputs 12G-SDI to the production switcher, converts interfaces to HDMI for the LED wall processor, and de-embeds audio for the mixing console.
2. Studio Room to Conference Room •Studio Room: 4K cameras (12G-SDI) and audio are downscaled to HD via Studio Edge in the Studio Room and transmitted via fiber. •Conference Broadcast Room:Studio Edge receives the optical signal, outputs 3G-SDI to the production switcher, converts interfaces to HDMI for the LED wall processor, and de-embeds audio for the mixing console.

IP Solution

Alternatively, Studio Edge can decode NDI streams into SDI/HDMI signals for output. This provides a flexible and highly integrated solution for building new intelligent multimedia IP studios.

During operation, users can switch between HD and 4K formats via Studio Edge’s scroll wheel, configure the transceiver mode of the optical transmitter/receiver, and modify other parameters.

Optical transmission/reception, full NDI encoding/decoding, up/down cross conversion, and SDI-to-HDMI format conversion are seamlessly synchronized, thus improving the efficiency of signal processing and enhancing the adaptability, flexibility, and compatibility of devices in diverse scenarios.
2/4/6 Channels, Configuration As Needed
Studio Edge offers three models: 2-, 4-, and 6-channel configurations. Each channel supports up/down cross conversion and optical transmission and reception. Simplifies engineering project deployment.
