Science Image upheld the spirit of being a “screw,” providing a solid and reliable performance to successfully complete its support tasks for the major September 3rd events. It stood firm in its post, fulfilled its responsibilities, and lived up to the trust and mission.

The September 3rd military parade, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War, was not only a highly anticipated event for all Chinese people but also drew significant attention from countries around the world. The live production at the event site and the live broadcasting and relay on new media platforms were tasks that allowed no room for flaws. The organizer of this event was China’s national news agency, which also holds global influence and shoulders the core mission of disseminating the most authoritative news in China. The agency is known for its meticulous and rigorous work, with extremely precise and strict requirements.

During the project preparation phase, the organizer conducted thorough investigations, research, product testing, and on-site system tests. Science Image was honored to be selected to participate in this glorious and important task. Ultimately, our products and the workflow built around them successfully withstood the tests, completing two rehearsals and the final live production tasks.

Studio 2: Powerful Functions Ensure Signal Processing

With its robust capabilities in format up/down-conversion, cross-conversion, and frequency conversion, Studio 2 became a reliable assistant for signal processing during the event. It could adapt to any input and output signal source format, standard, and resolution that complied with industry norms, eliminating concerns about the formats and interfaces of signal sources from various main camera positions at the front end. Signals could be processed according to preset formats.

Simultaneously, Studio 2 could encode baseband signals into NDI-based IP streams and transmit and distribute them via built-in Ethernet to the next-level NDI matrix or switcher for production. This function significantly streamlined the deployment process, reducing the time, cables, and equipment required, while enhancing real-time performance, convenience, and reliability. More practically, Studio 2 supported bidirectional operation for all its functions and could serve as a receiving end for signal processing. Over twenty Science Image Studio 2 units were deployed for this major event, providing a solid foundation for its smooth execution.

Studio Edge: Bidirectional Processing Enables Efficient Signal Transmission
Several rack-mounted Studio Edge units, deployed in the central production department of the remote news agency, were responsible for bidirectional processing of multiple signal channels. They could receive baseband 12G SDI signals, convert them into NDI signals, and directly feed them into the system for production. Additionally, they undertook the task of transmitting signals from a production room at the news agency’s headquarters to another studio in a different building via a local area network, enabling efficient and flexible signal distribution.

Stringent Management: High Quality Ensures Reliable Performance

Science Image implemented strict management in product design, component selection, and production testing. Internationally, seasoned users affectionately refer to it as the “Rolls-Royce of codecs.” Science Image products are renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship and high quality, ensuring stable and reliable operation. They can even function normally in harsh working environments, such as high temperatures exceeding specified parameters, making them truly reliable “warriors.”

Due to their high quality and reliability, the news agency chose to deploy Studio 2 units at multiple front-end locations with different environmental conditions, far from the headquarters. This also laid a solid infrastructure for future production tasks.

Science Image is immensely proud to have participated in this national major event and contributed its modest efforts to ensuring its success. We look forward to continuing to provide our services and support for more events organized by our clients in the future.
